A hemogram (also known as a complete blood count or CBC) is a blood test that measures different components of the blood, including hemoglobin, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
Hematocrit (HCT) is one of the measurements taken during a hemogram. It is the percentage of red blood cells in the total volume of blood. A normal HCT level is typically between 38-46% for adult women and 40-50% for adult men.
HCT levels may be affected by conditions such as anemia, dehydration, liver disease, and bone marrow disorders. The results of a hemogram can help doctors diagnose and monitor various conditions and diseases, including infections, cancer, and autoimmune disorders.
